Scira Studios, an indie film studio based in Los Angeles, approached us to bring their vision to life with a cinematic logo animation. Drawing inspiration from grunge and Game of Thrones–style aesthetics, they sought a strong, impactful identity that would embody the power and mystique of their brand. Starting with their sketched dragon logo, we explored multiple concepts to create a narrative-rich visual experience.
The initial direction, inspired by the gold-pour sequence from Amazon’s Lord of the Rings series, involved molten metal filling the contours of the logo. While technically successful, the framing and tone didn’t fully capture the intended grit and drama. We pivoted to a new concept—an abandoned castle in ruins, telling the story of a hard-fought battle between man and beast. Storyboards guided the viewer through this desolate world, from banners of man swaying above an empty throne to the dramatic reveal of a dragon reclaiming its domain.
To achieve this vision, we crafted a richly detailed 3D environment with layered shaders and intricate models, paired with dynamic cloth simulations to bring the banners to life. The dragon’s animated rise disrupted the scene with cinematic weight, underscored by a custom audio score and foley work from a dedicated sound engineer. The result was a powerful brand introduction—delivered with full-resolution renders, cropped formats, and separated logo elements—giving Scira Studios a signature opening worthy of their storytelling ambitions.
